A few months ago I received a private message through facebook from a client to ask if I would shoot a family portrait, I explained that I don't do the "Studio white backgound" portraits as I find them soulless and boring not only for me but the sitter(s) too and they very rarely capture the characters of the sitter, it turns out she didn't like that kind of thing either, so I suggested we go to a local wooded area and we can take some great images there...
A couple of months later, she got back in touch to tell me about a party they were planning and that close relatives would be visiting from abroad and would I mind shooting this instead, well of course I wouldn't. The party had the fantastically fun theme of a Mad Hatters Tea Party, once I met the client I had a little scout round the venue, I found a tyre swing in some shade, the ideal spot... With the help of my assistant (wow, what a fabulous luxury that was, as this was the first time I had one), Fiona who is a fantastic photographer in her own right (check out her website www.picturedimages.co.uk) we were able to capture some fantastic images.
